The entertainment business was brought to its knees when COVID-19 spread across the globe. Kersey Valley management team comprised a safety plan that passed the NC Health Department's strict inspection. Part of that plan was a virtual queue line procedure to keep groups separated. We shared that plan with all the haunted attraction owners to use as their plan or a great starting point to enable them to open in their city. The plan was used nationwide and in Canada as it was well-received by the haunt industry. Many entertainment venues have changed their procedures for good after having to comply with health department mandates and realizing the benefits even after COVID-19 restrictions were removed.
One of the changes we implemented was using a virtual queue line system to keep groups in their car until we could allow them to enter the park. The reviews were great and people enjoyed not having to wait in the massive lines to enter Spookywoods. This turned out to be one of the silver linings of dealing with the mandates that restricted our business. We will continue using the virtual queue line system however, the groups do not have to stay in their car. Guests can roam about our midway and enjoy the many characters and food available without losing their spot in line. We have an area called Club Spooky where guests and enjoy music with DJ Harper getting the crowd going with contests like dance-offs and karaoke. Enjoy hanging out under the massive catwalk party lights and jet fog machines all while keeping an eye out for our characters that like to spook you and photobomb selfies.
Once we are ready for the guest to enter the haunt a text will be sent to come to the short physical line at the entrance of the attraction. After all the challenges with getting the facility open during COVID-19 mandates, it seems a bit ironic that in the midst of all that we actually come out of it with a positive impact on our business. We are much more efficient by eliminating 3 of the queue lines and expanding the attraction in one location vs having to transport guests to the other side of the farm by tractors and trams.
We hope to see you all unmasked for the 2021 season at Kersey Valley Spookywoods!
